Do not risk your life over a selfie. Although that may seem obvious, another person has died while trying to get the perfect picture…

According to the Independent, an injured bear in India recently mauled a man to death.

Prabhu Bhatara, the man in question, was on his way home from a wedding when the incident happened. After stopping to use the bathroom, Bhatara saw the wounded animal in the distance.

For some reason, he then decided to try taking a selfie with the bear, despite his companions urging him not to. Once he was close enough for the photo, the bear attacked. A struggled ensued, but the animal easily overpowered Bhatara. A nearby dog also tried joining in, even managing to bite the bear, but that did nothing to stop the attack.

Forest ranger Dhanurjaya Mohapatra explained that Bhatara died on the spot following the attack. He also revealed that the bear was being treated for it’s own injuries as well.

As it turns out, India had the highest rate of deaths linked to selfies from March 2014 to September 2016. On top of that, selfies with bears have become an increasing trend since 2014. Even the U.S. Forest Service began warning people not to pose with the wild animals due to the danger the pose.
