Last year, Sacramento’s Emma Berman was offered the opportunity to voice the character of Giulia in the Disney and Pixar movie ‘Luca’. It was also just one day before California went into lockdown, according to the Sacramento Bee.
Berman’s family ended up building a soundproof studio in their home so Emma could safely record her lines.
“I know a lot of people were recording just in their closets but how my house was, you could hear everything that was happening on the streets,” Berman told the Bee. “So we had to build an actual little soundproof studio booth.
The 12-year old voice actress began performing when she was just 8 years old. She quickly landed her first job voicing a toy for Leapfrog. Numerous acting gigs followed. She’s performed in many live productions as well as providing the voice for several toys and working with Netflix.
As for the movie ‘Luca’, “There are so many absolutely incredible messages in this film,” Berman told the Bee. “There’s silencing the voice of doubt that’s telling you that you can’t do all these things and is stopping you from having these wonderful experiences, but there’s also accepting yourself and accepting others.”
“Luca” was released on June 18 and is currently on Disney+.
