Chick-fil-A Opens On Sunday To Feed Stranded Passengers At Atlanta Airport

Sometimes you gotta break from tradition, which is what Chick-fil-A did yesterday. The company was contacted by the mayor of Atlanta after Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport lost power.

Cause of Power Outage at Atlanta Airport

CNN reports that the power outage was caused by a fire. It began in a Georgia Power underground electrical facility.

According to Business Insider, nearly 1,000 flights were grounded at the world’s busiest airport.

What Makes Chick-fil-A Open on Sunday

A company spokesperson said, “while Chick-fil-A is always closed on Sunday, our restaurants open occasionally to serve communities in need.”

The restaurant ended up serving over 5,000 meals before the power was restored shortly after midnight this morning.

While free food doesn’t solve the issue of missing a flight, it makes it sting a little less.
