So, this is super scary. Austrian snowboarder, Markus Schairer, broke his neck on Thursday during a quarterfinal race. Fortunately, doctors say the Austrian athlete suffered no permanent damage.
Markus fractured his fifth cervical vertebrae when he landed on his upper back and neck on the final jump of the course.

Amazingly, the snowboarder was able to return to his feet and finish the race. Also, this isn’t Markus’ first injury. He broke five ribs in 2010 at the X Games, according to MSN. Plus, he injured his shoulder in 2013.
