Committee Votes To Raise Tolls On Bay Area Bridges
By Admin on February 1, 2018
How’s $9 to cross the Bay Bridge sound? Apparently it sounded good to committee members, who votes to move the increase forward. The proposal has increases of $1 over six years for Bay Area bridges.
According to KCRA, there would be a $1 hike in 2019, 2022 and 2025, if voters in the nine Bay Area counties vote yes in June. The increase would raise over $4 Billion dollars over 30 years. Apparently the money would go to public transportation and roadway improvements.
While the Bay Bridge would be $9 to cross, other Bay Area bridges would be $8. The Golden Gate Bridge is excluded from the increase. Also, commuters who cross two bridges get half off the second toll with a FasTrak pass.
So, extra money is great. But, it could add up for people who commute a lot.
