According to TasteofCountry.com Charlie Daniels passed away this morning at the age of 83 after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke. The family has released no other details. His affect on many musicians from country to rock was far and wide. When I was a kid I LOVED his song “Uneasy Rider.”  If you’ve never heard it, head here.  And who doesn’t know his classic, “The Devil Went Down To Georgia.” As much as he contributed to country music Charlie wasn’t asked to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry until 2006. It was a moment Charlie later said that he’d never forget. Check that out here.  For a lot of young kids who were into rock like me Charlie Daniels made the fiddle cool. And that voice. That incredible voice. Rest in peace Charlie Daniels. And many, many thanks.
