Dierks Bentley will never wear cowboy boots again. After a bad experience onstage with Kenny Chesney several years ago, he’s traumatized for life.

While serving as an opener for Chesney, Bentley was invited back onstage for the encore. Before going back out, he decided to change and wear a pair of new cowboy boots. “Somebody had gave me a pair of cowboy boots at the meet and greet and I thought, ‘I’ll put them on in case they’re out there, they can see me wearing them, so I’ll be a nice guy.’ Bad idea,” he said.

Everything was going great until he jumped from the eagle risers and landed badly. Bentley didn’t find out until he was back home in Nashville after the show that he’d torn his ACL. Miraculously, however, he carried on and finished the song on stage.

Within a week, the “Woman, Amen” singer had surgery and was back on the road to finish the tour, reports Sounds Like Nashville. What a trooper!
