Ed Sheeran finally responded to the lawsuit filed against him, Tim McGraw, and Faith Hill in January. Ed filed his response on Monday in regards to the song he composed, “The Rest of Our Life.”

The “Perfect” singer asked that the judge dismiss the case. He said that the song is an “originally and independently created musical composition.”

Two Australian composers argued that the song copied their track, “When I Found You,” by Jasmine Rae. According to MSN, they wrote:

“The copying is, in many instances, verbatim, note-for-note copying of original elements of the Song, and is obvious to the ordinary observer.”

However, Ed responded that he and his team “did not have access to and/or did not copy ‘When I Found You.’”

The judge hasn’t responded yet.
