At first I thought it was made up. No, it wasn’t, Fresno firefighters confirmed the story is real. This guy was trying to kill some spiders with a blowtorch, and it didn’t go as well as he’d hoped.

It happened in Fresno, and the spiders in question were black widows. Yes, those are dangerous spiders, but I promise you, there’s one (or more) probably within 40 feet of you right now and you have no idea. Ok, that’s probably exaggeration, but the point is that they pretty much mind their own business. That said, if you want to kill them, go right ahead. But I’d recommend using a specific spider spray or something like that. If you use a blowtorch, you’ll burn your house down, I promise you.

This guy did exactly that, only he was house sitting. It was his own parent’s house that he burned, although not totally. The fire did damage to the second floor of the home, as well as some attic and roof space. He saw some spiders while he was watching the home, and the next thing you know, he’s sitting outside surrounded by 29 firefighters. No, I’m not saying the guy deserved for this to happen. People usually think “kill it! Kill it with fire!” when they think spiders. Point is, calm down, take a step back, and maybe find a shoe or something. See some more details over here.
