Maren Morris accepted the role as honorary chairwoman for the Texas Music Project. As a native Texan, Morris could not be happier to be representing the nonprofit.

The country star participated in the songwriting camp organized by the organization previously. The Texas Music Project’s mission statement is to “encourage, promote, produce, and advance music education programs.” The nonprofit offers a number of different programs dedicated to its vision.

Previous honorary chairpersons include Willie Nelson, according to Taste of Country.

She said in her acceptance interview:

“Education, songwriting, Texas, you blend those all together and that’s what the heart of me is and so to be the honorary chairman … is really incredible. I like to represent Texas in any way, shape or form that I can, so this is a huge honor.”
