Morgan Evans Reveals ‘Kiss Somebody’ Isn’t About Wife Kelsea Ballerini
Many fans assumed that Morgan Evans’ hit single, ‘Kiss Somebody’, was undoubtedly about his wife, Kelsea Ballerini. The man himself revealed it’s not!

Many fans assumed that Morgan Evans’ hit single, “Kiss Somebody,” was undoubtedly about his wife, Kelsea Ballerini. The man himself, however, revealed it’s actually not!
In fact, the song wasn’t written about a girl at all. It was about one of his friends. He told Nash Country Daily:
“A lot of people asked me if I wrote [‘Kiss Somebody’] about Kelsea. No. The answer is absolutely no. It was inspired by a mate of mine, actually. I used to stay with him in Nashville before I moved here, and he went through this really rough breakup and he was devastated. And I was with him through that period, then I went back to Australia.”

Morgan was there for his buddy during the worst of the breakup. He finally wrote the song after he returned from his home country to find his friend still caught up in his ex:
“A year and a half later, I came back and he was still devastated over this situation. And, I was like, ‘Dude! You need to kiss somebody!’ And so, the lyrics kind of go: ‘Sometimes you’ve got to drink about somebody / Sometimes you’ve got to cry and miss somebody / Sometimes you’ve got to kiss somebody.’”
Hopefully his friend is doing better now. Especially since he has a motivational track written just for him!
