You may not have heard her name before yesterday, but Channing Dungey is the president of ABC Entertainment, and she is the one that ultimately decided to pull the plug on the Roseanne Show after Roseanne Barr’s racist tweets were sent out. Dungey was born in Sacramento in 1969, attended Deterding Elementary School, Arden Middle School and Rio Americano High School. She became a varsity cheerleader for Rio Americano High School during her senior year before heading off to UCLA to study film studies. She joined ABC in 2004, working her way up to eventually becoming the first African-American president of a major network in 2016.
