Russ Solomon, the founder of the Tower Records music chain, sadly passed away on Sunday night.
According to the Sacramento Bee, Solomon had a heart attack while watching the Oscars with his family.
His son, Michael Solomon, described the moments leading up to the sudden death, saying:
“Ironically, he was giving his opinion of what someone was wearing that he thought was ugly, then asked (his wife) Patti to to refill his whisky.”
When his wife returned, Solomon had already passed away. However, it appears the heart attack was unforeseen as Solomon was reportedly in good health.
There is currently no memorial or funeral in the words for the businessman. Instead, his son says his family and friends will hold a private party to celebrate his life.
While he may no longer be with us, Russ Solomon has left behind a major legacy in Sacramento. With Tower Records being one of the most famous companies to ever come out of the city, he will definitely not be forgotten. As his son described him:
“He was sort of a Pied Piper. People followed him and adored him.. They wanted to do what he wanted.”
He was 92-years-old.
