Study Says Drunk People Are Better at Creative Problem Solving
By Cody Briana on April 24, 2018
Mississippi State University and colleagues conducted a study on an important matter that was totally worth their time and effort: drunk people and finding what they’re good at. They served vodka-cranberrys to 20 male subjects until their blood alcohol levels neared legal intoxication and then gave each a series of word association problems to solve. Sounds fun!
Not only did the inebriated give more correct answers than a sober control group, but they also arrived at solutions more quickly. In fact, tipsy subjects solved 13% to 20% more problems than the sober subjects. The conclusion: drunk people are better at creative problem solving. Maybe this is why I’m better at trivia after a few beers? Are you the same way?
