A man that pretended to be a doctor in his teens has recently plead guilty to his crimes. Although that might sound like the plot to a comedy movie, it’s unfortunately a lot more serious…
According to Inside Edition, Malachi Love-Robinson opened up his own clinic while he was still just a teen. Despite lacking any sort of medical training, he then began posing as a doctor and accepting patients.
During an interview with Inside Edition back in 2016, the teen defended himself by saying:
“My intentions were pure. There is no law that states that you have to have a bachelors or masters or a PhD to take someone’s temperature… This is a free country, anyone with the funds to open a clinic… can open a clinic.”
However, even though opening a clinic is not illegal, Love-Robinson was not in the clear. Prosecutors argued that he did something illegal while giving an undercover police officer an examination. He was also facing accusations of taking $30,000 for an 86-year-old patient of his, among other crimes.
He has now plead guilty to practicing medicine without a license and grand theft. On top of that, he also needs to pay back $80,000 to his patients.
Now 20-years-old, Love-Robinson should be out of prison in about two years.
