Dads are special creatures, they all do the same “dad” things, and it usually leaves their wives irritated (and sometimes laughing).

So, guys do all the stereotypical “dad” things after becoming a new father, right? Whether it’s the napping in the chair with the TV on, not knowing what’s going on in general, or just not doing things on the “honey-do” list. These women share their own stories of things their husbands did that were oh-so-very dad-like. They’re pretty great, and I’m pretty certain that all of our dads have done everything on this list at least once. Let’s begin.

Melissa: “I swear to God above it takes all of my strengthen not to throat punch my husband when he says, ‘Oh, so you want me to babysit?’ No, dude. It’s called being a parent. You made him, you watch him!”

Jac
“I ask him to do something, or even if he just says he is going to do something, and then an hour has passed and it still hasn’t happened, so I get up and start doing it and then he realizes what’s happening and comes back with the, ‘I was just about to do that!'”

Laura’s husband once dressed their 3-and-a-half year old in his 1-and-a-half year old’s clothes.

Heidi says she realized the futility of her husband changing their daughter’s diapers after just 4 months. Apparently he would always run to the sink to throw up. Oops.

Amanda: “Dad jokes. Nonstop. Sorry I can’t be more specific, but I try to wipe them from memory.” I love dad jokes, they’re the best!

Katie: “He’s way more competent now, but calling me for help/asking when I will return shortly after I left him alone with the kids.”

Cynthia
“He farts and then giggles in front of the kids. Juvenile and gross. But I’ll admit that it *is* funny.” Enough said. Though, don’t we all find humor in that, secretly?
