Look – murders aren’t good. They’re never funny, but you have to see the cruel irony in this story. Nancy Crampton-Brophy is a published author of many books, mostly romance novels, and author of the “How To Murder Your Husband” essay. She was just arrested for actually (allegedly) killing her own husband.
Nancy’s husband, Dan Brophy, was a chef and instructor at a culinary school. He was found early one morning at the school, shot dead. Police didn’t have any suspects, at least not at first. Nancy somehow became a suspect, possibly due to her essay. That essay, “How To Murder Your Husband,” was published back in 2011. In that essay, Nancy talks about a plethora of reasons as to why someone would want to commit homicide. Another suspicious move – that essay has now been made private. Although that may be due to the ongoing investigation. Here’s a Facebook post she made the day after her husband was murdered:
In an interview from 2012, Nancy was talking about why she gravitates towards writing romance-suspense stories. She says “Murder, mayhem and gore seem to come naturally to me which means my husband has learned to sleep with one eye open.” I’m not saying she did it, and I’m obviously not connected to information about the case, but when you make a living writing murder mystery stories, and joke about your husband sleeping with one eye open… Check out some more info about the case over here.
